Today I checked Svínoy. After all it is my favourite place for birding on the Faroes. So I cannot go there enough.
After the massive arrivals during the last few days I had high hopes of good birds. But after a few hours of birding it was like Suðuroy. Lots of common stuff, but no rarities. 3 Yellow-browed (some starting to be pale variants), 5 Chiffchaffs including one tristis, about 10 Blackcaps, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, Long-tailed Duck, Great Skua, Redpoll… good numbers but no megas.
But suddenly when walking on a road above the village a Little Bunting was foraging on the road. Maybe it is the same bird as last week, which I only saw very briefly 5 times and heard calling. I had given up on getting it accepted to the danish rc, as rarities without photos are almost no go.
But todays bird was very confiding and gave supreme views. So I might get accepted as the 3rd ever Little Bunting for the Faroes.
