Yesterday I went back to Viðareiði and used some time getting recordings of the presumed Eastern Yellow Wagtail. In spite of windy conditions I managed to get the call recorded and Max Allan Niklasson was kind enough to turn the recording into a sonogram – thanks!
Whether it is enough to get the bird accepted or not I do not know. People have started to ask for feathers, DNA-analysis and even collecting the birds pooh. Well, that is probably not gonna happen. And if nailing the bird really requires that I guess it is not worth the fuss.
In Árnafirði I found a Red-breasted Flycatcher and a Barred Warbler yesterday.
In Kunoy another interesting Lesser Whitethroat and a Lesser Redpoll type were present.
Now it is storming. 32 m/s is reasonable when thinking of bringing in yanks. Shetland has had a Red-eyed Vireo today. Maybe there will be something good around after the storm?
