A son and an Osprey

Our new born son

Our new born son

This morning my wife gave birth to a lovely and healthy son. So we are of course very happy. And there probably will not be a lot of time birding the next days.

I had to leave the hospital in Tórshavn in the evening to take care of our two daughters back in Klaksvík. On my way from Tórshavn to Klaksvík I got a nice surprise. All of at sudden an Osprey crossed the road at Norðskála. Only my third ever on the Faroes – and arriving during westerly storms…

Hi! I would very much like to see all pictures of the Osprey in original if possible. The wing pattern on the underwing suggest male American Osprey ssp. carolinensis. Even if it is probably not safe to identify this bird from the pictures it is truly a very interesting observation! I can send you the Osprey-identification guide I wrote for Dutch Birding if you don’t have it? Please send the pictures to the E-mail address: Roine.strandberg@biol.lu.se
    /All the very best, Roine
