It’s almost like autumn. One day there are birds everywhere, the next day nothing’s left. There really is a huge change in the number of Iceland Gulls present. But today is was for the better! More than 250 birds were present in Klaksvík today…
And a lot of new birds had arrived since yesterday. There were at least 10 Kumlien’s Gulls including a very dark 2. winter bird. I wonder when the invasion will peak, ’cause it seems like the number of birds is just increasing rapidly!
Yesterday there were just a few Kumlien’s Gulls and almost no so-called brown-wingers. But today there were several brown-wingers too… It really is hard to understand the dynamics of this invasion.
Rodmund called me a moment ago. There are 70 to 80 Iceland Gulls in Sørvágur and a very dark Herring Gull is also present.
Since the faroese Herring Gulls have caused some interest I’m gonna post some images of some random Herring Gulls photographed today.
